90th Anniversary Celebration of Epsilon-Zeta

During UND Homecoming

September 21 – 23, 2018

The men of Lambda Chi Alpha, Epsilon-Zeta Zeta, both Alumni and Active members, invite you to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the founding of the UND Chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha.

Whether you were called Choppers, Lambdas, Lamb Chops, Tri-Lambs, Lambda Chi’s, or LCA’s, we want you to come home to the House on Harvard Street and renew your Bond to the Brotherhood.

Through It All, the Bond of Brotherhood Remains Strong (1928 – 2018)

In 1928, a gallon of gas cost 21 cents, a first-class stamp 2 cents, and the era of prohibition was in its eighth year. A brand new Ford Model T cost $1,490, and a new home would set you back $4,250. Mickey Mouse appeared in his first talky, Charles Lindbergh received the Medal of Honor for his transatlantic flight the year earlier, and the existence of DNA was proven.

In this same year, a group of men, living on the prairie, in a town just east of what had once been called the Louisiana Purchase, and living on the bottom of a lake that had been, for many years, extinct, gathered together to form the Epsilon-Zeta chapter of the Lambda Chi Alpha national fraternity.

The 90 years that stretch from then until now have seen many changes to not just prices, but also to the fabric of our society. We have seen much of war. A World War, and wars in Korea and Vietnam. A war in the Gulf, the rise of global terrorism, another war in the Gulf, and a continuing war in Afghanistan. And we have seen much of peace. We had the economic prosperity that followed both WWII and Korea. We have seen the rise of civil rights that came about during the Vietnam War. We saw the rise of women’s rights, and of human rights in the aftermath of Vietnam War along with one of the longest stretches of peace. We saw Americans walk on the moon and we get to marvel at the universe through space telescopes.

And through it all, the Bond of Brotherhood of LCA has survived and thrived. That handful of men at UND who announced that they were volunteering to join a brotherhood bond that had so faithfully served other LCA brothers since 1909, started this legacy, our legacy, that has remained unbroken for 90 years.

The world is changed by those who show up. We invite you to bring your experiences to homecoming, those from life and those from Lambda Chi, and pass along the lessons that shaped you and made you who you are. Be the leaders of your generation and help to guide the current generation of active brothers to be better men. And while you’re here, you can also share memories with alumni.

We will have a banquet, speakers, some recognition ceremonies, and other activities. There will also be a tailgating event in the Alerus parking lot before the Homecoming game.
